Vessel NYC: Your Visit Guide

Planning a trip to Vessel at Hudson Yards? Here's everything you need to know before you go, from how to get there to what to bring.

What Is Vessel?

Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Vessel is one of New York City's most iconic landmarks. The copper-clad honeycomb structure at the heart of Hudson Yards' Public Square is made up of 154 interconnected staircases, nearly 2,500 individual steps, and 80 landings, each offering a different view of the Hudson River, the Manhattan skyline, and the neighborhood below. It's meant to be climbed, explored, and photographed from every angle.

Vessel NYC Hours

Vessel is open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM.

For the most up-to-date hours and any schedule changes, visit vesselnyc.com.

Tickets

Vessel offers two ticket options:

1. Timed Entry - Choose a specific date and arrival window. Best for those who want to plan ahead and secure a spot, especially on weekends when tickets can sell out.

2. Flexible Entry - Visit at any time during open hours without a set arrival slot. A good option if your schedule is loose.

Children 5 and under are free. All other guests require a ticket. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

You can also bundle Vessel with Edge admission and save 10% on both. Learn More About the Bundle Here!

Tips for Your Visit

Book in advance. Tickets, especially on weekends, can sell out. Weekdays tend to be less crowded, particularly in the early morning or late evening.

Go during golden hour. The soft light reflects beautifully off Vessel's copper panels at sunset, making it one of the best times to visit and photograph.

Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be climbing a lot of stairs, so leave the heels at home.

Leave the big bags behind. Smaller bags are recommended to keep pathways clear and make climbing easier.

No food or drinks inside. Keep that in mind before heading in.

Photography is welcome. Personal cameras and phones are encouraged. Professional equipment like tripods and drones requires prior approval.

Wheelchair access. Guests in wheelchairs can arrange priority elevator access.

While You're There

Vessel sits right in the middle of everything Hudson Yards has to offer. After your climb, explore the Public Square and Gardens, catch a free event on the Wells Fargo Stage, or head next door to Edge for sweeping 360-degree views of Manhattan.
